About Me

I received my Master's Degree in Counseling from Arizona State University in 1976. I began working with individuals on probation and parole for drug problems in 1977. After 7 years in that field, I became the Administrator of the Employee Assistance Program at AlliedSignal where, over the next 2 1/2 years I helped over 1,000 employees receive help for their particular problems. I began training with Patrick Carnes, Ph.D.,  in sex addiction in the 1990's and became a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist in 2002. Working with clients who are dealing with sex addiction is my primary area of clinical specialization.

I prefer to work with individuals/adults, whether on their own issues or their relationship issues. I also believe that any relationship problems are connected to each person’s individual issues, which can often be uncovered and healed. This, in turn, can help an individual create healthy relationships.

I have been in codependence recovery since April 25, 1987 and was the former Executive Director of the National Council on Codependence.  As a result of my own individual growth as well as my professional experience, I have found the therapy process to be invaluable in helping people find their true selves, create healthy, loving relationships,  and, ideally, achieve inner peace.
